Have you investigated the electronic possibilities of your home recently? From the awesome excitement of a Custom Home Theater, to the convenience of a whole house audio/video system, the possibilities are truly endless. Just so you're not entering into this decision blind, we've provided some insight into how we create a system designed specifically for your needs.
| The more distributed your audio system is, the more control options you may want to consider. |
|
What's right for you
The first step is determining if you want a traditional home theater, or a Dedicated home theater. A traditional home theater is set up in an area such as a family room, so there's already an existing space along with furniture. From plasma screens to rear projection televisions to speaker set-up a MyerEmco specialist will discuss what Audio-Video selection will provide you with optimal viewing enjoyment.
Dedicated to perfection
While a traditional home theater is a great investment, if you have the room for it, MyerEmco will design your ideal home theater. A Dedicated home theater features custom designed seating, lighting sound, and television. We understand this is a big investment in time and money, so we work with you to create a movie theater feel right in your own home.
| The heart of your Home Theater System is the remote control. |

First a few questions
If you've decided to purchase a Dedicated system, our experts will first ask you some basic questions before we begin a design. First, how big is the room you want transformed? This will determine overall layout and ambient lighting scheme. Second, how many people do you want the room to hold? We work with contractors who create a custom designed seating configuration. You can have anything from stadium seating to all leather couches. And lastly we need to determine how large a screen will fit in the room. Using a basic formula of the screen being one half the size of the distance from where you sit, we'll help you pick the right monitor. Visit the section on HDTV and Flat Panel TV for more information.
The Audio system
The more distributed your audio system is, the more control options you may want to consider. In addition to simple controls such as volume controls, infrared sensors and keypads, it may become desirable to have a home automation system to integrate the functions of the audio system into a simplified master control. This would allow single button pushes to execute complex commands (called "macros") that accomplish preprogrammed sequences of tasks. For example, one button might turn on the system, access the FM tuner, adjust the volume to a preset level, and tune to your favorite station.
Ambient Lighting
Ambient lighting is important because it not only sets the tone of your Home Theater room, but it also determines what kind of television you purchase. Lighting can be as simple as using dimmers, or as complex as being controlled by a remote. One thing to keep in mind, the more varied and diverse your lighting fixtures and schemes, the more difficult they are to manage. Just like in the operation of your audio system, you can preprogram complex commands. In the world of lighting control, these are called "scenes." So you can create a scene for whatever mood you're in.
Control
The heart of your Home Theater System is the remote control. These universal remotes do more than the ones you've encountered in the past. Some of the more advanced universal remotes feature LCD screens that display system information and put even greater control at your fingertips. These remotes are designed to control everything in your Home Theater. Some of the most sophisticated remotes use a touchscreen LCD to offer the ultimate flexibility in system control from your sofa. And even better, some touchscreen remotes offer button layouts that are fully customizable - you can get rid of the buttons you never use and arrange the buttons you do use in any order you like!
An integrated home system can help remove the clutter of many remote controls and ugly wall devices. It allows you to simplify operation by grouping commands to many subsystems at once.
